Directions to Chapel Hill InnTown

NOTICE  !!!!!!  MANY GUESTS HAVE DIFFICULTY FINDING OUR LOCATION USING MAPQUEST OR GPS SYSTEMS.    THIS INCLUDES TAXICABS AND OTHER SHUTTLE SERVICES.   There are several apartments visible on the Google Maps "Street View".  They are numbered similar to ours (#1, #2, #3, #4, etc.) but these are NOT our apartments.   We are located above those apartments at the top of the hill.   You should print the directions below and bring them with you in case you have difficulty accessing the internet. We are sometimes unavailable to give directions over the phone.  If you do not follow these directions, you most likely will have difficulty finding us.

The cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Carrboro also have streets named "Hillsborough".  If you use a GPS, make sure you look for the Hillsborough Street address in Chapel Hill.

a) From the intersection of Franklin and Hillsborough Street:
Head north on Hillsborough Street away from the UNC campus. Soon you will go down a very long steep hill. At the bottom of the hill you will bear around a sharp curve to the left. You will soon pass a bus stop shelter on your left, and there is a "Brookside" sign behind the bus stop. At the next left after the bus shelter you will see the sign that says "Chapel Hill InnTown/Hillside Condominiums".  Follow the arrow on the sign all the way to the top of the hill.  DO NOT GO TO THE APARTMENTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL.  At the top of the hill, there is another smaller sign pointing you to the InnTown building.

b) From the intersection of Franklin and North Columbia St:
The main intersection in town is Franklin and Columbia. Head north on Columbia Street away from the UNC campus. After your cross Rosemary Street you will start going down a hill. Bear right at the fire station at which time the road changes names to Martin Luther King Boulevard. Keep going down a long hill. At the bottom of the hill you will see the Hunam Chinese Restaurant on your right. At the stoplight, turn right onto Hillsborough Street. Go 0.2 miles, passing Lloyd Tire on your left.  Turn right at the sign that says "Chapel Hill InnTown/Hillside Condominiums" and follow the arrow on the sign all the way to the top of the hill.  DO NOT GO TO THE APARTMENTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL.  At the top of the hill, there is another smaller sign pointing you to the InnTown building.

c) If you are coming from Interstate 40 (if you are driving from the RDU airport, take I-40 west):
Take exit 266.  Follow Highway 86 South towards Chapel Hill. You'll pass several major intersections: Weaver Dairy Road, Homestead Road, and Estes Drive. After crossing Estes Drive, you'll go down a long steep hill, passing the Chapel Hill Police Department on your left. Turn left at the traffic light at the bottom of the hill onto Hillsborough Street. (NOTE: The right hand turn at the traffic light is named "Umstead Drive" and you may see this sign instead, but if you turn left you WILL be on Hillsborough St.). At the top of the hill, there is another smaller sign pointing you to the InnTown building.

d) If you are travelling southbound from Virginia on I-85:
When you arrive in Durham, NC, take the 15-501 South exit to Chapel Hill. Stay on 15-501 South for several miles. When you arrive in Chapel Hill, take the Franklin Street exit. Eventually you will go up a very long hill. After you get to the top of the hill, turn right at the 2nd traffic light onto Hillsborough Street. Now follow the directions in (a) above.
